Cefpodoxime belongs to the third-generation antibiotics. It is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is prodrug which after absorption undergoes de-esterification in the intestinal mucosa. It is resistance against beta lactamase enzyme produced by the bacteria.

Cefpodoxime inhibits the synthesis of cell wall by inhibiting the peptidoglycan mediated crosslinking of N-acetyl glucosamine and N-acetyl muramic acid.

Absorption- It is absorbed orally by gastrointestinal tract
Protein Binding- It is 23% bound to plasma proteins
Metabolism- It does not show metabolism
Excretion- It is excreted unchanged via urine
